All going swimmingly well – printed out MS and carted it to the gardens at Abbotsbury and sat and read through and also in their cafe and I covered it in sticky notes. All good So Far🙄.

Using Learn Scrivener Fast ( exceedingly old course I bought years ago and hung on to just for this) I set up to follow their suggested editorial work flow:

Get your changes into MS Word doc – in this case that was me manually adding not an Editor then turn that to PDF import to Scrivener 3 and using split screen off you go…

I happened to be using my seriously old iMac and all the above set up just fine. I then went to use my new this year W11 and it wouldn’t open a PDF for any reason any way – and running down stairs and firing up the W10 it wouldn’t either – they would if I opened the old Scrivener 1 for Windows. Consternation and annoyance for meat such a stupidly trivial weird thing but hey ho I won’t change the Word doc to a PDF and I guess I will have to type in all the changes manually.

I get up Fri 13th and there has been some bat shit crazy Windows update – I thought the W10 was slow this week – well slow was one thing deleting apps and black screen was unfunny.

I have avoided – so far – having to take both to town for re sets and have re grouped them both and tried to reverse things that changed as best I can – so more by luck than judgement.

We aren’t made of money and Apple aren’t above stupid shit but this is first time I am absolutely horrified at Microsoft and physically nauseous and vile headache followed me all day😱

I can’t afford a new mac and or a mac book  but the out of updates iMac, newish laptops and an Android tab and Iphone just don’t work even with expensive clouds.

It’s not helping my ‘what’s the frigging point?’ Clown in my head that’s for sure.

I use different machines in different places to keep me moving or I sit or stand too long and my back suffers.

Bewildered right now. Not wanting to make a start juggling two large docs or three…

Taking weekend to think about it.

PS. And then as if by magic the PDF’s of MS Word docs with track changes on are visible in Scrivener 3 for Windows again albeit slightly fuzzy…. Givin’ Up for weekend…
